Beauty: Clinique Marimekko collection review

Hey babes! Today I will be showing you the beautiful new Marimekko for Clinique collection. The line boasts some of Clinique's existing Pop Splash lip glosses and Clinique Pop lip colour/primers in collectible tubes featuring Marimekko's signature bright, playful designs, retailing at €22. I received five press samples, and even though the colours and formulas aren't new, I haven't tried these myself so I will be reviewing them for you. A bit of sunshine on a cold winter's day - enjoy!

Beauty: Clinique Marimekko collection review

First up, my fav out of the bunch: the lovely deep burgundy grape shade, 20 Sangria Pop. My lips have been super dry recently, and the moisturizing Clinique Pop Splash lip glosses are perfect to mask any dryness and smooth everything out. I like a deep colour on the lips, but I dislike the high maintenance that comes along with it: keeping clean edges, having to check whether everything is pristine every time I have a drink or a bit to eat, being careful not to smudge anything... A dark lipgloss may not have that same intense effect, but there's still a distinct sultry feel to a darker glossy lip. The coverage is moderate, Sangria Pop's pigmentation is nice but the colour you get is still not as intimidatingly itense as it seems to be in the tube.

The gloss texture itself is thick and on the sticky side, which does pose the dreaded hair-stuck-in-lipgloss issue all my 00s babes are all too familiar with, but the thicker formula also keeps your lips nice and glossy for a longer time, leaving them slightly stained. Lovely product!

17 Spritz Pop is also totally lovely - a mauve pink that is surprisingly pigmented for how pale the colour is. Probably the most pigmented out of the bunch, even! This is the perfect gloss to throw in your purse to touch up during a day at the office, because it's the kind of colour that goes with any type of outfit and is as non-offensive as can be.

13 Juicy Apple is the last out of the three lipglosses, and my least favourite. I love a good red lip, but Juicy Apple just underperforms in terms of pigmentation, being very sheer and leaving your lips almost a bit patchy. Wish this was more saturated!

Moving on to the lip colour/primers, this is Nude Pop, a soft, peachy nude with a satin finish. The colour is lovely, but as most pastels tend to do, this one does emphasize the dryness I currently have going on. Will look better after a scrub! The colour is like a light wash of colour to touch up as you go about your day, but the colour won't last very long because the formula is so light and slippery.

Finally, Melon Pop! Also a lip colour/primer, a tiny bit deeper and warmer than Nude Pop, the same light, moisturizing, slippery consistency. Very comfortable on the lips, and a shade that is very flattering on my fair, neutral toned skin. These soft, sheer, satin finish lipsticks may not be the most on-trend right now, but they are the perfect staple for makeup lovers who prefer a soft look.

All in all, the Marimekko for Clinique collection is cute AF and I feel like there is a great match between Clinique's accessible range of formulas and shades, and Marimekko's bright, carefree designs. I feel kind of silly because there isn't much more I can say about these products, but I hope my review and swatches are of use to anyone! Let me know if you have any questions :-)
